Valentine

Created on a Valentine's Day. Not as a commercial gesture, as a certainty. Love was in the studio air, it ended up on the bust.

Over the gold leaf, a grid of cells. In each cell, a heart. Never the same twice. Carmine, fuchsia, meadow green, lilac, sunny yellow. The gilded line that encircles them recalls medieval stained glass as much as Pop art.

Above, an antique wire lampshade frame crowns the bust. It hides nothing, it reveals. The iridescent globe bulb diffuses a light that shifts with the hour. Love too changes with the light of day. Valentine is a declaration that lasts. Delivered with disassembled lampshade, without bulb.
