Toucher le Ciel

29 × 29 cm,
To touch the sky. That phrase we sometimes carry within us like a promise, like an impulse. That moment when the gaze rises, when we look for what exceeds us.
Above, a great turquoise sky, dense, textured, taking up almost all the space. As if it were coming down, as if it were coming to meet us. The matter is alive, patinated, it carries the layers of time.
In the middle, the band of golden foam. A luminous frontier between the sky that stretches out and the sea that asserts itself. The gold leaf sets down its discreet and sovereign presence.
Below, the deep sea. Navy blue, muffled, sure of itself. It is the base, the foothold of every impulse.
A work for those who know that the sky begins where the gaze rises. Matter, structural plaster, acrylic, gold leaf. Wabi-sabi. To touch the sky. Sometimes it is enough to look at it.
