Midnight Blue

50 × 50 cm
The night is here. Navy blue, dense, almost solid, a blue one can touch.
Below, the earth has cracked. The crackles draw an ancient geography, that of matters that have waited too long for the rain. Blue upon blue, matter upon memory.
And then, between the two, gold surfaces. A fine line of foam and light crosses the canvas like an ember one cannot manage to extinguish. The tenacious promise that there is always some light somewhere.
It is the blue hour of the Mediterranean. The one when sea and night become a single thing, and when the gold still refuses to disappear.
Matter, structural plaster, acrylic, gold leaf. Wabi-sabi. To paint the night. To sculpt the ember.
