Light My Fire

60 × 60 cm,
"Come on baby, light my fire." Jim Morrison launched this invitation like a challenge. This canvas takes it up in its own way, silently, by painting the exact moment when the sky catches fire.
The sky stretches out in broad layers of incandescent orange, dense, almost vibrating with heat. It is the south at the hour when the light no longer plays, when it truly burns. At the horizon, a fire-red line heightened with gold leaf separates the day from the night. An ardent, sovereign frontier.
Below, the night rises. Deep bordeaux, then velvety black that absorbs everything. The crackled matter carries the traces of this tipping, that fragile instant when the fire of sunset becomes a promise of darkness. A canvas that holds the warmth of the day and the mystery of the evening in the same breath.
Matter, structural plaster, acrylic, gold leaf. Wabi-sabi. To paint the fire of sunset. To sculpt the tipping.
