Green Sea

29 × 29 cm
There is a colour the sea takes on some mornings. A green that is no longer quite the blue, not yet the emerald, something between water and leaf. It is that green I wanted to paint.
Above, a sea-green sky finely crackled, tender as a sage leaf, dense as an old Mediterranean wall. The matter carries the patina only time knows how to give. At the horizon, the gold spreads, generous, scattered with touches of turquoise, like a living frontier between two greens.
Below, the deep sea. A peacock blue-green, almost mineral, held by the matter. It does not imitate the sea, it is its memory.
A work both vegetal and aquatic. A green breath. Matter, structural plaster, acrylic, gold leaf. Wabi-sabi. The sea turns green. The light follows.
