Grand Calme

Turquoise above, light as a held breath. A soft light, almost translucent, that lets the matter breathe.

Below, the sea. Dense navy blue, immense, majestic. It says nothing, and yet it says everything. The silence of the great depths, that tranquil gravity of things that no longer need to stir.

And between the two, the line. Metallic rust, patinated copper, surfacing gold. A frontier held firm, like a thread that would keep the world in its rightful place.

It is the great Mediterranean calm. The one that comes after storms, or before. The suspended instant when the sea remembers it is immense, and when one remembers one is small, and that this is not a burden.
