Golden Scars


As in the Japanese art of kintsugi, where broken pieces are repaired with gold, this work turns the fissure into light.

A great white sky, crackled like ancient bark, lets gold surface within each fracture. Below, a deep, sombre horizon line, then a raw, mineral earth, patinated by time.

The scars do not hide. They radiate. A meditation on resilience. What life fractures, it can also gild.

Matter, structural plaster, acrylic, crackles, gold leaf. Wabi-sabi. To paint the breakage. To sculpt the light.
