Gold Spark

80 × 100 cm, Technique mixte, plâtre structurel, acrylique, feuille d'or sur toile.
There are mornings when the sky stays closed. Cloudy, almost grey. One thinks the light will not come. And then suddenly, a spark. A ray of gold pierces through the clouds and touches the sea. Gold Spark. The golden spark. That tiny, almost miraculous moment when everything tips.
The blue-grey sky stretches out in wide vaporous layers. It still carries the memory of the night, the cottony softness of a morning that hesitates. The sapphire sea below is deep, dense, an almost velvety blue.
And at the centre, this trail of gold. Gold leaf descends from the sky toward the water, extending into the sea in a long golden cascade. It does not merely shine, it vibrates, it dances on the surface, it bursts into a thousand reflections. As if the sun, through a tear in the sky, had decided to give everything in a single instant.
It is the moment when the light wins. When it asserts its presence against the greyness. A spark that is enough to make the whole sea sing.
Matter, structural plaster, acrylic, gold leaf. Wabi-sabi. To paint the spark. To sculpt the tipping point.
