La Mer d'émeraude

Deep green reigns, dense, almost mineral. An emerald sky that keeps the memory of the great depths, holding within it that particular silence of Mediterranean waters at the close of day.

At the centre, the band of gold comes to break the restraint. Thick, generous, it crosses the canvas like a light that at last surfaces. Gold leaf does not decorate, it reveals. It says what the green was keeping silent.

Below, the Mediterranean holds its breath. Vibrant turquoise, textured with crackles and glints, it carries within it all the nuances of the sea I look upon from the studio. The accumulated layers tell of time passing over matter.

This small format concentrates a vast emotion. It fits in the hand but opens onto infinity.
